On Sunday January 25, Lightridge Band boarded a flight and were on their way to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. Each year the group takes a few trips to learn about the music industry and job opportunities after high school.
On this trip, the band went to a Universal Studios sound stage and played music from various movies. For example, juniors and seniors played music from the movie “Trolls.” Students also learned how sound effects and voice overs are added to films.
“One of the purposes of going is to learn about different job opportunities and how big the music industry really is,” said band teacher Jonathan Phillip. “This trip exposed the group to professionals in the industry and shows them they can continue their music career after high school.”
“This helps answer the question of why am I doing all of this hard work,” said Phillip, suggesting the trip gives students a view of a life as a musical professional beyond high school.
During the group’s four day trip, they had three days to explore the Universal parks. Philip explained that spending time as a group helps strengthen the Lightridge Band community.
