Beneath the surface of a seemingly peaceful class of 2025, the water gun battles and backstabbing eliminations have begun as the third annual senior assassin game has commenced. The game this year started on April 21st with 154 people.
Senior Assassin is not an officially sanctioned event run by two SCA junior officers, Regan Vanhorn and Cooper Gaull. The rules remain the same as last year: the Splash-in app randomly assigns people a target and the target can be eliminated by spraying or shooting water at them. They have to be eliminated by the date assigned at the beginning of the round.
“You have to really get to know your person before starting your plan to get them out. Get to know their hobbies and what car they drive,” said senior Byron Conley.
Each participant needs to share their live location through Splash-in, an app designed specifically for senior assassin, and through Life 360. The people running the game can assign bounties at any time, which means any person can eliminate that person with the bounty. Some things that warrant a bounty are having your location off or bribing someone to let you get them out.
If a player is wearing goggles around their head, they are safe from being eliminated; Unless the person running the game calls a purge. A purge is a set time where any immunity is invalid and a person can get eliminated whether they have goggles on or not.
“Senior assassin is such a fun way to get to know people that you would have never spoken to before because of the random assignment. You have to find out about people that you never really knew about before,” said Noah Culpepper.
Each person pays $5 to participate in the initial game and all the money gets added together for the prize pot. First place gets 70% of the prize pot, second place gets 20% and third place gets 10%.
This year’s game is currently in the second round with the first round ending the day after prom, which was the 27th.
As of this publication, 84 players have been eliminated.
