Art classes use batiks to celebrate Black History Month

Nora Bader

Lightridge art students in art classes made batik portraits of influential black performers, activists, and politicians for Black History Month. Batik is a process that involves wax printing at specific spots and color dying fabric in order to create the image.  Lightridgenews.com talked to the students to ask why the chose the person they did for their portrait work.  Click on the gallery below to see examples and read their explanations.
