Winter Spirit Week is here, and the theme is Disney Throwbacks. For the week of December 15 through 19, each day has a different dress-up theme to show school spirit. Along with dressing up, there will be activities and competitions throughout the week of December 15.
The SCA started planning Spirit Week weeks in advance, coming up with ideas for the main theme. Once a theme was decided, grade levels broke out to brainstorm ideas before coming to approve the best ones.
“There were definitely a lot of opinions, but that’s what makes planning Spirit Week so interesting,” Senior Vice President Cooper Gaull said.
Students start the week on Monday with Monsters Inc. Pajama Day, a cozy and comfy way to begin. Tuesday continues with the Teen Beach Movie theme, where students choose between dressing as Bikers or Surfers. On Wednesday, it’s Back To The Future Decades Day, with students dressing in the brightest 80s fashion. Thursday brings a Frozen Ski-Out, with students showing up in their best ski gear. The week wraps up on Friday with Sandlot USA-Out. Each grade will wear its representative colors:
Freshman – Red
Sophomores – Blue
Juniors – White
Seniors – USA
This year also includes a student-favorite event, Next Top Bolt, a talent show held on Thursday, December 18, where seniors compete to see who will be the school’s Next Top Bolt. This is the fourth year the event is being held.
The SCA encourages teachers to actively count spirit points, which motivates students to participate in all Spirit Week activities.
“We try to make Spirit Week as fun as possible to encourage participation,” said Junior President Sami Browning.
The week ends on December 19 with the pep rally and Basketball Jamboree, with students wearing their grade colors for The Sandlot USA-Out.
