Over the last three years the Lightridge varsity softball team has had amazing success. The 2027 class alone has a total record of 64-6, and this past season finished the regular season an impressive 22-0, going undefeated for the first time in school history and finishing ranked ninth in the state.
Head coach Jimmy Thomas said the biggest factors of the team’s success have been their cohesion, chemistry, and collectiveness.

For the second straight year the team was regular season district champs and Class 5D region champs. Last year’s season was the first time the team made the state playoffs, losing in the first round 6-3 to Godwin in Richmond VA. This year they followed it up, making the state playoffs again after beating Riverbend 8-2 in the Region finals. Coach
“States is a hard thing to prepare for because you play teams you probably wouldn’t play in the regular season,” said Thomas. “You just take it one game at a time.”
The team will host the quarterfinals at home on June 9 with the rest of the state playoffs being hosted at John Champe.
